ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 5-0 win over John Carroll on Saturday afternoon at Kerscher Stadium.
The five goals were a season-high for the Polar Bears, who improve to 8-1-4 overall and 3-0-2 in the OAC while dropping the Blue Streaks to 7-6-2 overall and 3-2-0 in the OAC.
ONU's five goals came from five different players, as seniors Cienna Kuhn (Elida) and Kylie Brown (Jamestown, N.Y./Southwestern Central), junior Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll), sophomore Alyssa Beckett (Monroe) and freshman Alli Macbeth (Fishers, Ind.) each found the back of the net.
The Polar Bears wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard, as Roberts netted her fourth goal of the season just 7:01 into the game on assists from Beckett and junior Kylie Cabana (Dexter, Mich.).
Cabana served the ball into the box on a free kick, and Beckett headed the ball to Roberts for the goal.
Roberts has now scored in three straight games.
Beckett added her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 27th minute via an assist from senior Jane Reiring (Cincinnati/Country Day).
The Polar entered halftime leading 3-0 after Kuhn recorded her first goal of the year, which came in the 44th minute on an assist from Reiring.
Macbeth added to the lead with her first career goal, scoring in the 58th minute via an assist from sophomore Elizabeth Pierce (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame).
Brown capped the scoring with a goal directly off of a free kick in the 59th minute.
Senior goalkeeper Becky Moss (Lebanon/Mount Notre Dame) recorded her OAC-leading eighth shutout of the season for ONU.
JCU goalkeeper Mackenzie Stease made nine saves in the loss.
The Polar Bears out-shot the Blue Streaks by a 24-2 margin, including 14-0 in shots on goal, and finished with a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
ONU returns to action on Wednesday for an OAC road game at Wilmington at 7 p.m.
