ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team closed out its 2022 non-conference schedule with a 2-0 victory over DePauw (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-1-2 overall while dropping the Tigers to 3-2-3.
Sophomore Chandler Clark (Lima/Bath) and junior Kylie Brown (Jamestown, N.Y./Southwestern Central) scored one goal apiece for ONU.
Clark put the Polar Bears up 1-0 with a goal assisted by junior Kylie Cabana (Dexter, Mich.) in the 27th minute. A well-placed free kick from Cabana found its way to Clark, who headed the ball past the fingertips of DePauw goalkeeper Emma St. John into the right corner of the goal.
Northern held the Tigers to just one shot in the first half and went into halftime with the 1-0 lead.
Brown made it 2-0 with her goal in the 66th minute, which was assisted by sophomore Alexa Clampitt (Sterling Heights, Mich./Utica Academy for International Studies). It marked the second straight game in which Brown has scored a goal.
The Polar Bear defense continued to limit DePauw's opportunities on offense and closed out the team's fifth shutout of the season.
Saturday also marked the fifth shutout of the year for ONU senior goalkeeper Becky Moss (Lebanon/Mount Notre Dame), who recorded one save in the game.
The Polar Bears finished with a 9-3 edge in shots and an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.
Northern returns to the field on Saturday, Oct. 1, to begin Ohio Athletic Conference play at home against Mount Union at 1 p.m.
