WHEATON, Ill. — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with host Wheaton (Ill.) at the Bob Baptista Invitational on Saturday night at Joe Bean Stadium.
The Polar Bears are now 2-0-2 overall, and the Thunder are 1-1-1.
Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard in the first half, and they battled deep into the second half before the ball found the back of the net.
In the 74th minute, junior Kylie Cabana (Dexter, Mich.) put ONU up 1-0 with her second goal of the season.
That lead didn't last long, however, as the Thunder responded with a goal of their own in the 76th minute. Katherine Ashley found Tori Seeland with a cross, and Seeland headed the ball past ONU senior goalkeeper Becky Moss (Lebanon/Mount Notre Dame) for the equalizer.
Both teams attempted two shots over the final 14 minutes but were unable to score.
Moss finished the game with three saves, while Wheaton goalkeeper Lauren Ketchum recorded seven stops.
ONU held a 24-6 edge in shots, including 8-4 in shots on goal, and a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday when they host Kalamazoo (Mich.) at 5 p.m.
