ADA — Seniors Kristy Catrine (Springboro) and Carissa Beckham (Mason/Mount Notre Dame) headlined a group of four Ohio Northern women's soccer players to earn All-Region 7 accolades for 2021 by United Soccer Coaches.
Catrine and Beckham were named First Team All-Region.
Freshman Alyssa Beckett (Monroe) was named to the All-Region Second Team, and sophomore Bri Straus (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) was named to the Third Team.
This latest honor for Catrine comes after she was named Ohio Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and a member of the All-Conference First Team for the second straight season.
Catrine started all 22 games for the Polar Bears this season, allowing 15 goals and posting 12 shutouts while tallying 74 saves, an .831 save percentage and a 0.67 GAA.
Her 12 shutouts are tied for third-most in a season in program history, and her 20 career shutouts tie her with Erin Waehner ('09-'12) for fifth place all-time.
Catrine boasts a career record of 22-6-5 with 105 saves, 0.47 GAA and .868 save percentage in 33 games, including 32 starts.
Beckham, a three-year starter for the ONU defense, is another member of this season's All-OAC First Team. The three-time All-OAC honoree was part of a Polar Bear defense that limited opponents to just 15 goals (0.68 per game) this season while posting 13 shutouts.
Beckham has four points via one goal and two assists in 67 career games, including 59 starts.
Beckett, a midfielder, is a Second Team All-Region selection after being named First Team All-OAC.
She ranked third on the team in goals (4) and points (10) this season while adding two assists, and she provided one of the team's offensive highlights of the year with a hat trick in ONU's 3-3 draw with Capital on Oct. 23.
Straus, a Second Team All-OAC selection this season, earned Third Team All-Region honors as a key member of the ONU defense.
The two-time All-Conference honoree has started all 32 games she has played in her ONU career and tallied one assist in 21 starts this season.
The Polar Bears posted a record of 14-5-3 and won their fourth OAC Tournament Championship in 2021 to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
In what was their sixth NCAA Tournament appearance, the Polar Bears opened with a 2-0 win over Hope (Mich.) in the first round before falling 2-0 to No. 10 Case Western Reserve in the second round.
