ADA — Ohio Northern senior Kristy Catrine (Springboro) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 14-20.
This marks the first such honor for Catrine this season and fourth of her career, as she earned it three times in the 2020 season this past spring en route to being named the conference's Goalkeeper of the Year.
This week's recognition comes after Catrine faced 10 shots and made nine saves in ONU's 1-0 loss to No. 11 Case Western Reserve last Wednesday.
Case Western enters this week at 6-0 overall and is averaging two goals per game, and Catrine and the Polar Bear defense kept the Spartans off the scoreboard until six minutes remained in Wednesday's match.
Catrine is currently in a tie for eighth place in program history for career shutouts with 11, and she enters this week with 31 saves, an .861 save percentage, 0.82 GAA and three shutouts this season.
The Polar Bears return to the field on Wednesday when they host No. 17 Denison for a 5 p.m. game at Kerscher Stadium.
