UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — Junior Tara Morris (Monroe) and freshman Kylie Cabana (Dexter, Mich.) each scored first half goals to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory at John Carroll on Sunday at Don Shula Stadium.
The Polar Bears remain undefeated and in first place of the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 5-0-0 record (5-0-0 overall), while the Blue Streaks fall to 2-3-0, 2-3-0.
Morris got ONU on the board early with an unassisted goal just 17:32 into the match.
Cabana netted her first collegiate goal with 3:24 left in the half as ONU led 2-0 at intermission.
The Northern defense was in control all afternoon, allowing JCU only one shot in total and none on goal.
Junior Kristy Catrine (Springboro) did not need to make a save to record her fifth consecutive shutout in goal. She ran her scoreless streak to 451 minutes this season and 455 minutes in her career.
ONU out-shot JCU 12-1 and had a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Polar Bears will return home on Thursday with a 7 pm contest against Heidelberg at Kerscher Stadium.
