ADA— Junior Tara Morris (Monroe) scored a thrilling goal in overtime to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory against Wilmington Thursday night at Kerscher stadium.
With the win, the Polar Bears improve to 4-0-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference and the Quakers fall to 1-1-2, 1-1-2.
Morris scored the winning goal in overtime with 8:28 remaining to give ONU the victory.
Freshman Alex Hoeffel (Continental) guided herself across midfield thru traffic, and made a pass to freshman Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) who had a one-touch pass past the keeper to Morris at the far post.
Morris scored on a top-in at point-blank range off the nifty feed for the match-winner.
Junior Kristy Catrine (Springboro) notched her fourth consecutive shutout and extended her scoreless streak to 361 minutes with one save in goal.
Ohio Northern out-shot Wilmington 17-2.
The Polar Bears will return to action with a 2 pm match Sunday at the Blue Streaks of John Carroll at Don Shula Stadium.
