ADA — Ohio Northern junior midfielder Haley Moses (Mason) has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team for her success on the pitch and in the classroom, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday afternoon.
To be considered, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher in academic standing, serve as a starter or important reserve player for their respective team, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 grade scale at her current institution. In addition, all nominees must have participated in 50 percent of the team's competitions at their respective position.
Sports information directors at member institutions within the region then vote on nominees based upon their on-field success and their academic achievements.
Moses, a junior mechanical engineering major at Ohio Northern, is a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, an Academic All-OAC recipient, an United Soccer Coaches All-Great Lakes Region First-Team and All-Ohio First-Team selection in 2017, and last season's OAC Midfielder of the Year.
The Mason native has started all 61 matches in her three-year stint at ONU. She has tallied eight goals, 17 assists, 33 points, and five game-winning strikes in her career.
In 2018, Moses led the Polar Bears and ended fifth in the OAC with six assists. She would also rank tied for second on the team with two game-winning goals and stand fourth in points with 10.
As a First-Team Academic All-District honoree, Moses will advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, which is set to be released on Tuesday, December 4.
Ohio Northern finished the 2018 campaign posting a 14-4-1 overall record and a 7-1-1 mark in regular season conference play, good for a runner-up finish in the final league standings. The Polar Bears would conclude their campaign with a trip to the OAC Tournament Finals where they fell to Otterbein 1-0 in overtime.
