ADA - Sophomore forward Jenna Fuller (Countryside, Ill./Lyons Township) and junior goalkeeper Meagan Grierson (Miamisburg) have swept the OAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday afternoon with the release of their weekly awards listing.
Fuller was tabbed the OAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Polar Bears with three goals, six points, and 13 total shot attempts last week. She would supply both goals and the game-winning strike in a 2-0 nonconference victory over Wittenberg on Tuesday evening while she added her third brace of the week in a 4-0 triumph over conference foe Marietta on Saturday. She has scored in six straight matches dating back to a 3-0 win over Trine (Ind.) on September 14.
The sophomore now leads the Ohio Athletic Conference with nine goals and is tied for the league lead with 18 points on the season.
Grierson earned her second successive OAC Defensive Player of the Week nomination after claiming both victories in net over the week. She would need just one save in the two matches to record her sixth and seventh shutouts of the season against Wittenberg and Marietta, respectively, giving her 27 clean sheets throughout her career at Ohio Northern.
Due to her efforts last week, she now leads the Ohio Athletic Conference in goals against average (0.44) and total goals against (4).
Fuller picks up her first Player of the Week award of 2018 and second of her career with the honor. Meanwhile, Grierson recieves her second Player of the Week accolade this season and third of her career.
The Polar Bears are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, September 3 when they host Baldwin Wallace at Kerscher Stadium in Ada. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
