Freshman Meagan Grierson leads list for Women's Soccer as eight are named All-Ohio Athletic Conference

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team saw eight players earn All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors for the 201 campaign.
Seniors Michaela Gutierrez (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area), Shelby Stephens (Cypress, Tex./Cypress Woods), Missy Ward (Columbus/Westerville North), and Haley Napier (Beavercreek/Beavercreek), juniors Hannah Reich (Howell, Mich/Howell) and Anna Niemeyer (Loveland/Loveland), and freshmen Meagan Grierson (Miamisburg/Miamisburg) and Haley Moses (Mason/William Mason) all earned All-OAC accolades.
Stephens, Gutierrez, Ward and Grierson led the list as each earned First Team All-OAC honors.
Stephens was named First Team All-OAC as a forward for the third time in her career after leading the team and ranking fifth in the OAC with nine goals.
The senior also ranked first on the team and tied for fourth in the conference with 24 points and finished her career tied for seventh all-time at ONU with 21 career assists.
Gutierrez earned her third All-OAC honor as a defender and second First Team All-OAC honor during her career at ONU.
The senior made starts in all 19 games this season.
Ward was named First Team All-OAC as a midfielder and earned the accolade for the first time in her career.
She was tied for third on the team with five goals and had a team-best .654 shots on goal percentage among those with 10 or more shots on goal.
Grierson was named First Team All-OAC as a goalie and earned the honor for the first time in her career.
The freshman also earned Goalie of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors after leading the team and conference in goals against average (0.71), and goals against (13).
Grierson also ranked second in the OAC with six shutouts and fifth with a .806 save percentage.
Niemeyer was named Second Team All-OAC as a forward and earned her second All-Conference honor in her career.
The junior was tied for fifth on the team with four goals, and made appearances in all 19 contests for the Polar Bears.
Moses was named Second Team All-OAC as a midfielder and earned her first career All-OAC honor.
The freshman led the team and was tied for third in the OAC with seven assists.
Reich earned her third All-OAC accolade after being named Honorable Mention All-OAC as a defender.
Reich made 18 starts for the Polar Bears this season and appeared in all 19 contests.
Napier was also named Honorable Mention All-OAC as a defender.
The senior earned her first career All-OAC honor and appeared in and made 19 starts for Northern.
ONU finished the 2016 season with a 15-4-0 record and won the OAC Regular Season title under 13th-year head coach Mark Batman.
