ADA -- The No. 15-ranked Ohio Northern women's soccer team extended its winning streak to six games Tuesday evening as it defeated the College of Wooster 3-0 at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 6-0-0 overall, while the Scots fall to 2-6-1.
Juniors Abbey Oswald, Hailey Martin and senior Missy Ward each scored for Northern.
Oswald got the Polar Bears on the scoreboard late in the first half after she received a double assist from senior Shelby Stephens and freshman Haley Moses and capitalized to give ONU the 1-0 lead in the 35th minute.
In the 42nd minute, senior Missy Ward would beat the Wooster keeper off of a free kick to push the lead to 2-0 at the intermission.
Martin would add an insurance goal and seal the 3-0 victory in the 71st minute after she beat two defenders and scored from eight yards out.
"They made it very difficult on us with the style of game they played," said head coach Mark Batman. "This was a great learning experience for us. We didn't lose site of what we wanted and got three very good goals against a very tough defensive minded team."
Freshman Meagan Grierson posted her fourth career shutout and added two saves to lead Northern defensively.
The Polar Bears outshot the Scots by a 17-5 margin, and won the corner kick battle by an 8-1 margin.
Ohio Northern will return to action Friday in a top-15 matchup, as they welcome No. 5-ranked Thomas More (Ky.) to Kerscher Stadium at 7 pm.
