ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team defeated Transylvania (Ky.) 2-0 at Kerscher Stadium Saturday evening for their third consecutive victory of the season.
The Polar Bears improved to 3-0-0 overall, while the Pioneers fall to 0-3-2.
Northern was led offensively by junior Hannah Reich and freshman Alyssa Manley as each scored a goal.
After a nearly scoreless first half, Reich was able to find the back of the net in the 41st minute as freshman Haley Moses set her up for a goal to give Northern the 1-0 advantage just before the intermission.
Manley would score her first collegiate goal in the 61st minute as freshmen Rose Nienaber and Hannah Martin earned a double assist and set Manley up for a perfectly played header to seal the 2-0 victory.
Freshman Meagan Grierson earned the victory in the goal and improved to 3-0-0 on the season, while recording two saves.
"We are very happy with our team's progress," said head coach Mark Batman. "Our schedule starts to get very tough the next few weeks and we are excited to see how this team competes next week against two very good teams."
ONU outshot the Pioneers by a 21-2 mark and won the corner kick battle by an 11-1 margin.
Northern will return to action Wednesday as they travel to Granville to take on the Denison Big Red at 4:30 pm.
