GAMBIER — Freshman Haley Moses and junior Abbey Oswald each scored first half goals to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 2-1 season-opening victory at Kenyon on Tuesday at Mavec Field.
The Polar Bears (1-0-0 overall) won their season opener for the fourth consecutive season and are now 10-0-2 in their last 12 lid-lifters.
Moses scored just 14:37 into her collegiate career, finding the net off an assist from sophomore Sarah Puntel, to give Ohio Northern a quick 1-0 lead.
Osawld scored off an assist from senior Shelby Stephens at the 28:40 mark of the half to out ONU ahead 2-0.
Kenyon (0-1-1) got its goal from Maggie Smith in the 30th minute and the Polar Bear defense did the rest, holding KC to just one shot in the final 59 minutes of play.
ONU out-shot Kenyon 11-4.
Freshman Meagan Grierson had one save in goal in her debut.
The Polar Bears will open the home portion of their schedule on Saturday with a 2 pm match against Bluffton at Kerscher Stadium.
