ADA - Junior Shelby Stephens scored on a penalty kick in the 88th minute to lead ONU to the 1-0 victory over Albion Friday evening at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears move to 2-0-0 on the season, while Albion falls to 1-1-0.
Stephens lone goal came off a penalty kick after Albion committed a foul inside the penalty box late in the second half.
ONU controlled the ball much of the first half outshooting the Britons 5-0.
Northern came out strong in the second half as junior Rachel Weigman fired off a shot that was saved by Albion goalkeeper Maggie Troost.
The Polar Bears continued to pressure the Britons late in the second half as freshman McKenna Welsh played a cross in the 69th minute that was once again saved by Troost.
ONU finally found the back of the net in the 88th minute as Stephens capitalized on a Albion miscue that led to the 1-0 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Emily Brodict recorded her 14th career shutout in the contest and moved to 2-0 on the season.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday at 5 pm as they play host to Hope, Mich.
