ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team tied Wittenberg 2-2 Tuesday night at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears are now 3-4-1 on the season, while the Tigers move to 3-3-1.
ONU would strike first in the 16th minute as freshman Anna Niemeyer was able to capitalize off an assist from sophomore Alaura Mikesell giving ONU the early 1-0 lead.
Ohio Northern was able to hold Wittenberg to just four shots in the first half, the Polar Bears fired off nine.
The second half Wittenberg's Chelsey Marcum was able to find Michelle Brunswick off a corner kick to tie the game at one. Wittenberg would score once more in the 75th minute giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
The Polar Bears responded in the 85th minute as sophomore Shelby Stephens was able to find junior Alex Weirich to tie the game at 2.
ONU had 5 shots in double overtime that came up empty.
Stephens had a chance in the 101st minute but was unable to score as goalkeeper Alexa Murrietta was able to make the save.
Junior goalkeeper Emily Brodict recorded 6 saves in the match.
ONU out shot the Tigers 21-14.
The Polar Bears return to action Saturday as they host Thomas More at 1 pm, at Kerscher Stadium.
