WESTERVILLE -- Senior Sandra Thorarensen scored her team leading fifth goal of the season and sophomore Emily Brodict recorded her second straight shutout to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Otterbein on Wednesday afternoon at Clements Field.
The Polar Bears move to 6-6-1 on the season and 2-1-0 in OAC play, while the Cardinals drop to 7-5-1, 2-2-0.
After a scoreless first half, Thorarensen sprinted past the defense and fired a shot over the goalie at the 53:58 mark, to put Northern up 1-0.
Otterbein would try to mount a comeback, but the Polar Bears did not allow a shot in the final 24:10 of the match.
Brodict would finish the afternoon with five saves and is now 5-5-1 on the season.
Dana Strimbu made six saves for the Cardinals and falls to 7-5-1.
Otterbein outshot ONU 13-12, but the Polar Bears held a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Saturday, when it travels to take on Marietta at 3:30 pm.
