CLEVELAND -- The Ohio Northern women's soccer team fell to Case Western Reserve by a 1-0 score on Tuesday night at Case Field.
The Polar Bears fall to 4-4-1 on the season, while the Spartans improve to 4-4-0.
Case jumped on the board at the 40:08 mark on a goal by Leah Levey.
ONU came out of the break aggressive, firing four shots in the first two minutes of the second half.
But senior Sandy Plunkett and senior Lauren Brown both had their shots blocked.
Senior Sami Atkinson would fire a shot that was saved and Plunkett took another shot that sailed high.
The Polar Bears tried to rally late on a shot by freshman Michaela Gutierrez in the 88th minute, but it was saved by Spartan goalie Abbey Smith.
Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Brodict (3-3-1) made four stops in goal for the Polar Bears.
Smith (4-4-0) made four saves for the Spartans.
Both teams took 15 shots in the match, with the Spartans finishing with a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.

Ohio Northern will return to action on Saturday, when it wraps up its non-conference season by hosting Transylvania (Ky.) at the ONU Soccer Field at 2 pm.
