DELEWARE -- Junior Sandra Thorarensen recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday evening at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-2-1 on the season, while the Battling Bishops fall to 2-3-0.
Thorarensen got the Polar Bears on the board first in the 24th minute, when she put a rebound in off of a shot by junior Kristina Klusek.
Her second goal expanded Northern's lead to 2-0, when senior Lauren Brown sent a cross that she sent in from six yards out.
Thoranensen's third goal came in the 82nd minute, when sophomore Hannah Moloney sent a pass to the right that she put in the net, making it 4-1 in favor of the Polar Bears.
Senior Abbie Schauble also recorded her first goal of the season, scoring at the 48:43 mark off of a pass from senior Sami Atkinson.
Sophomore Emily Brodict made five saves in goal and improves to 2-2-1 on the season.
Hannah Zacharias made seven saves for OWU and fall to 2-3-0.
ONU dominated offensively, firing 33 shots, with 12 on them being on goal.
Ohio Wesleyan took 11 shots, seven of which were on goal.
The Polar Bears also took four corner kicks, compared to one for the Battling Bishops.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Tuesday, when it hosts Denison at 4 pm.
