SPRINGFIELD -- The Ohio Northern women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 non-conference match to Wittenberg on Wednesday night at Edwards-Maurer Field.
The Polar Bears fall to 2-2-1 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 2-3.
ONU got on the board just 3:39 into the match when senior Lauren Brown sent a corner kick that was knocked into the goal by senior Sami Atkinson.
Wittenberg would answer with two goals that were just five minutes apart in the second half to jump in front 2-1.
Northern tried to mount a comeback in the final 13 minutes, but were unsuccessful on two shots.
Junior Kristina Klusek took four shots and sophomore Alex Weirich fired three shots.
Sophomore Emily Brodict (1-1-1) made eight stops in goal for the Polar Bears.
Kelsey Lorko and Maggy Grieser (1-0-1) combined to make four saves for the Tigers.
Wittenberg outshot Northern 15-13 and also took 10 shots on goal compared to five for the Polar Bears.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Saturday when it travels to face off against Ohio Wesleyan at 7 pm.
