ADA--Junior Abbie Schauble scored two goals to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Wilmington on a cold and damp Wednesday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.
The Polar Bears are now 11-4-4 on the season while the Quakers conclude their season at 12-7-1.
The Polar Bears got on the board in the 23rd minute when junior Sami Atkinson passed the ball to Schauble who placed it in the left side of the net from just outside the box.
Schauble collected another goal just five minutes later on an almost identical shot to beat the keeper for the second time.
Junior Sandy Plukett picked up the assist on the play.
The goals were the first two of the season for Schauble.
In the second half, the Polar Bears played solid defense while taking six shots and holding onto the lead.
"I am proud of the way we played," said head coach Mark Batman. "I think we definitely deserved the result. We are playing good at the right time and getting goals from different girls which is what we need."
Senior goalie Erin Waehner (11-3-4) saves all five shot she faced for her eighth shutout of the season.
The Polar Bears held the advatage in shots, 19-7.
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Wednesday when they travel to Westerville to face off against top seeded Otterbein in the OAC Tournament Semifinals.
