Schuyler Caprella leads Wrestling to solid third place finish at 19-team Manchester (Ind.) Classic

ADA — Senior Schuyler Caprella (Bluffton/Allen East) won the 157 pound weight class title to lead the Ohio Northern wrestling team to a solid third place finish at the Manchester (Ind.) Classic on Saturday at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
The Polar Bears had eight placers in the 10 weight classes and finished the tournament with 118.5 points.
No. 3-ranked Wabash (Ind.) won the team title with 189 points, No. 19 Wisconsin-Eau Claire was second with 163.5 points, NCAA Division II teams West Liberty (W.Va.) and Indiana Tech were fourth and fifth with 98.5 points and 80.5 points, respectviely, and No. 5 Baldwin Wallace was sixth with 73 points.
Senior Cash Thompson (Lake Odessa, Mich./Lakewood) and freshmen Dylan Le (Powell/Dublin Scioto) and Jacob Reed (Canal Winchester/Lancaster) all posted second place finishes.
Thompson was 3-1 at 197, Le was 2-1 at 133 and Reed was 3-1 at 141.
Senior Jordan Hardrick (Dayton/Wayne) placed third at 165 with a 4-1 record.
Freshman Cael Vanderhorst (Covington) was 3-1 and placed fifth at 141.
Freshman Gavin Layman (Chesterton, Ind.) was sixth at 184 pounds with a 4-2 mark and sophomore Jadon Brownlee (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) was seventh at Heavyweight with a 3-2 mark.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Muskingum for Ohio Athletic Conference duals with Muskingum, Baldwin Wallace and No. 24 John Carroll.
