Tuesday's Dual: The Ohio Northern wrestling team opens the OAC portion of its 2021-22 season today at home against Heidelberg at 7 p.m. … The squads will run JV bouts simultaneously next to the varsity mat so more student/athletes can gat mat time ... Ohio Northern is coming off an 0-3 record at the Adrian (Mich.) Duals on Saturday ... Northern was led by freshman Jacob Reed with a 3-0 record with a pin and a major decision at 141 pounds to improve to 7-0 on the season ... Senior Jordan Hardrick is ranked as a Contender (11-18th ranking) at 165 pounds and senior Cash Thompson is Honorable Mention (19-26th ranking) at 197 pounds in the first D3wrestle.com poll ... After Reed's 7-0 record, ONU is led by sophomore Jadon Brownlee (5-2) and sophomore Ben DePrest (5-4) with five wins each at Heavyweight ... Nine others have four wins each ... The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday at the Olivet (Mich.) Duals ... The Student Princes will be competing in their first dual match of the season on Tuesday ... HU finished third at the Adrian (Mich.) Invitational on Nov. 6 and the unscored Tiffin Open Tournament on Sunday ... Senior Dwight Parker won the title at 149 pounds to lead HU at Adrian ... At the 40-team Tiffin Open, freshman Jamen Onesky and sophomore Logan Germaine placed sixth at 149 and 165, respectively ... Devin Miller (6-3 at 174) and Kyle Fanson (6-4 at 141) lead the Student Princes with six wins each.

Head Coach Ron Beaschler: Beaschler is in his 34th season at the helm of the Ohio Northern wrestling program and currently stands as the longest-tenured head wrestling coach at the institution ... He sports a 341-245-4 career coaching record in dual action, a winning percentage of .581, making him the all-time winningest coach in program history ... Beaschler was inducted into the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Hall of Fame in 2008 and has been named OAC Coach of the Year three times in 1993, 2012, and 2013.
