This Weekend's Preview: The Ohio Northern wrestling team will begin its 2021 season by hosting the first weekend of OAC dual meet competition on Sunday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse ... Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the OAC will not allow fans to be in attendance for any contests until at least March 1 ... ONU will host Heidelberg at 1 pm, Wilmington and Heidelberg will wrestle at 2:30 pm and Ohio Northern and Wilmington will compete at 4 pm ... Mount Union was scheduled to compete as well, but will not make the trip due to COVID-19 protocols ... Junior Jordan Hardrick, senior Schuyler Caprella and senior Cash Thompson are ranked in the D3wrestle.com preseason poll for Ohio Northern ... Hardrick is ranked #8 at 165, Caprella is #10 at 157 and Thompson is ranked #6 at 197 pounds ... The Polar Bears return seven of ten starters, six of eight regional placers, and two of three national qualifiers from last year's team that finished 14-8 in dual meets, fifth in the OAC with a 3-4 mark, and fourth out of 18 teams at the NCAA Central Regional ... Sophomore Camden Spears will move to 133 pounds after starting at 125 as a freshman, sophomore Chase Sumner is the returning starter at 149, junior Connor Kwiat is back as the starter at 174 and sophomore Logan Painter is back as the starter at Heavyweight.

Head Coach Ron Beaschler: Beaschler is in his 32nd season at the helm of the Ohio Northern wrestling program and currently stands as the longest-tenured head wrestling coach at the institution ... He sports a 338-241-4 career coaching record in dual action, a winning percentage of .583, making him the all-time winningest coach in program history ... Beaschler was inducted into the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Hall of Fame in 2008 and has been named OAC Coach of the Year three times in 1993, 2012, and 2013.
