Wrestlers open 2014-15 season with fourth place finish at Roger Williams (R.I.) Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. — Senior All-American Cody Lovejoy won the heavyweight title in impressive fashion to lead the Ohio Northern wrestling team to a fourth place finish at the season-opening Roger Williams (R.I.) Invitational on Saturday.
Lovejoy, who is ranked No. 7 nationally in the 285-pound weight class, posted a 5-0 record with four pins to win his weight class title.
In all, eight Polar Bears placed in the top six in their respective weight classes.
Junior Colt Lovejoy posted a 4-1 record with two pins to finish second at 165 pounds.
Sophomore Gennar Feucht had the longest day for the Polar Bears, finishing third at 157 pounds with a 7-1 record which included a pin and two tech falls.
Sophomore Dillon Brancheau and freshman Aaron Adkins finished third with 5-1 records and two pins at 197 and 184 pounds, respectively.
Freshman Evan Morgan placed fourth at 149 pounds with a 5-2 record.
At 133 pounds, senior Cole, Cochran went 4-2 and finished fifth.
Junior Tyler Gargano went undefeated, winning both of his matches, but finished sixth at 174 pounds after forfeiting his final three matches due to an injury.
ONU finished the tournament with 140 points to finish fourth of 12 teams.
Messiah (Pa.) won the title with 174.5 pounds, Johnson & Wales (R.I.) was second with 169 points, Roger Williams was third with 155.5 points and Wesleyan (Conn.) was fifth with 97 points.
The Polar Bears will travel overnight to Lexington, Va., for three dual meets at the Washington & Lee (Va.) Duals on Sunday afternoon.
