Women's Lacrosse falls at OAC foe Capital

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team dropped a 23-10 Ohio Athletic Conference contest at Capital on Friday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (6-5 overall, 0-2 OAC), Capital (8-3 overall, 2-0 OAC)
- Venue: Bernlohr Stadium - Columbus, Ohio.
The Game
- Junior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) had a team-high 5 points on 2 goals and 3 assists, and sophomore Rylie Kocik (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) had four points on one goal and three assists to lead ONU.
- Capital got out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first 3:53 of the game.
- ONU quickly answered, getting goals from sophomore Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson), Kocik and sophomore Elena Martin (Youngstown/Canfield) 1:48 apart to pull within 5-3 with 8:20 left in the first quarter.
- The Comets would score the next ive goals to go up 10-3 with 3:35 left in the first.
- Senior Emma Perry (Pickerington/North) would score at the 1;31 mark of the first to make it 10-4.
- But the hosts would score nine of the game's next 10 goals to grab a 19-5 lead with 1:41 left in the half and go on to the victory.
- Capital out-shot Ohio Northern 35-15 and won the ground ball battle 25-14.

- Burden is now first all-time in Ohio Northern history with 137 career points. She is also ONU's all-time career leader with 82 assists and is eighth with 55 career goals.
- Fifth-year senior Elizabeth Graham (Dayton/Carroll) leads the team with 28 goals and Kocik leads the team with 37 points on 23 goals and 24 assists.
- Burden has a team-best 24 assists to go with 33 points.
- Senior Chloe Millican (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) is ONU's all-time career wins leader with 17.
- Ohio Northern has now scored 10 or more goals in 10 of its 11 games this season.
- Head coach Margo Vandeveld is in her first season at Ohio Northern and has a 6-5 record, a winning percentage of .545.
