Women's Lacrosse posts program's first-ever shutout in 22-0 victory at Mount Saint Joseph

CINCINNATI — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team posted its first-ever shutout on Wednesday night, rolling to a 22-0 victory at Mount Saint Joseph.
The Basics

The Game
- Sophomore Elena Martin (Youngstown/Canfield) scored a career-high five goals and had a career-high eight draw controls.
- Senior Elizabeth Graham (Dayton/Carroll) and junior Alise Callahan (Cedarburg, Wis.) each had three-goal hat tricks for ONU.
- Ohio Northern was dominant throughout, holding leads of 6-0 after the first quarter, 12-0 at halftime and 17-0 after three quarters.
- Junior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) and Graham joined Martin with 5 points each as Burden had two goals and three assists and Graham added two goals to her scoring total.
- Freshmen Kassidy Elzey (Miamisburg) picked up five ground balls and had four draw controls.
- Ohio Northern out-shot Mount Saint Joseph 43-3, had a 24-15 advantage in ground balls and won the turnover battle 28-18.
- ONU also won 22-of-26 draw controls.
Notables
- Junior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) is now third all-time in ONU history with 113 career points. She is also ONU's all-time career leader with 63 assists.
- She has now scored multiple goals in all six games this season.
- Northern had held five different opponents to two goals in its history before tonight's shutout.
- This game is the sixth of an 8-game road trip to open the season for the Polar Bears.
- Ohio Northern set a school record with their sixth consecutive game scoring 10 or more goals, breaking the mark set in 2019.
- Head coach Margo Vandeveld is in her first season at Ohio Northern and has a 4-2 record.
