Women's Lacrosse drops 15-10 decision at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE — Sophomore Rylie Kocik (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) had five points on two goals and three assists to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team in a 15-10 loss at Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.

- Kocik scored both of her goals and had one assist as the Polar Bears scored five consecutive goals over the final 6:02 of the first period to lead 5-3.
- The Battling Bishops scored the final four goals of the half to lead 8-6 at intermission.
- After a goal by junior Alise Callahan (Cedarburg, Wis.) to start the third make it 8-7, but OWU would score the next three to take an 11-7 advantage with 5:11 left in the period.
- Sophomore Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) scored with 10 minute to play to pull ONU within 12-10.
- The Bishops would ice the game by scoring the final three goals of the contest.
- Senior Elizabeth Graham (Dayton/Carroll) and sophomore Elena Martin (Youngstown/Canfield) also had two goals each for Ohio Northern.
- Ohio Wesleyan out-shot Ohio Northern 36-23 and had a 27-23 advantage in ground balls.
Notables
- Junior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) is now third all-time in ONU history with 113 career points. She is also ONU's all-time career leader with 63 assists.
- This game is the fifth of an 8-game road trip to open the season for the Polar Bears.
- Ohio Northern has now tied a school record with their fifth consecutive game scoring 10 or more goals, tying the mark set in 2019.
- Head coach Margo Vandeveld is in her first season at Ohio Northern and has a 3-2 record.
