Women's Lacrosse opens 2019 season with 18-3 home victory Hiram

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team opened its 2019 season with a record-tying 18-3 victory over Hiram on a cold Wednesday evening at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears (1-0 overall) tied their school record single-game goal total of 18 set on three previous occasions.
Seven different ONU players scored at least two goals in the game, led by junior Betsy Naugle (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) with four goals - recording her eighth career hat trick.
Juniors Jacqui Lohman (Liberty Township/Lakota East) and Eli Carter (Lebanon) each had 3-goal hat tricks.
Junior Maddie Storr (Clarence, N.Y.) had two goals and a career-high five assists for a game-high seven points for ONU.
The Terriers (0-2) were led by Katelyn Slomovitz with three goals.
Naugle picked up her hat trick in the first 9:47 of the contest, scoring three of Northern's first four goals to give the hosts a 4-0 lead.
Sophomore Sabra Woodruff (Beavercreek) scored on a free position shot at the 16:05 mark of the half to make it 5-0.
After a Slomovitz goal, Northern scored the next five goals to go up 10-1 with 2:50 left in the half.
The Polar Bears scored the contest's final six goals over the last 17:02 to put the game away.
Ohio Northern out-shot Hiram 41-11 and was 13-of-16 on clearing attempts.
Junior Kelli Hill (Worthington) picked up her first career victory in goal with five saves for ONU.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday with a 2 pm home contest against Ursuline.
