BARTOW, Fla. — The Ohio Northern softball team topped Penn St.-Behrend but fell to Thomas (Maine) on the penultimate day of their annual spring break trip on Thursday. ONU won 4-2 over PSU-Behrend and fell 3-1 to TC.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (2-6 overall), Penn St.-Behrend (4-4 overall), Thomas (4-5 overall).
- Venue: Bartow Park - Bartow, Fla.
Game 1 - W, 4-2 v PSU Behrend
- In the bottom of the first, senior Ashley Lenser (Brookville) singled home freshman Jaylee Fansler (Plainfield, Ind./Avon), then senior Callie Rosser (Republic/Monroeville) scored on a wild pitch to go up 2-0.
- In the bottom of the second, Rosser singled home freshman Melanie Amann (Columbus/Upper Arlington), making the score 3-0.
- The Lions scored one run in the top of the fifth, but the Polar Bears answered by scoring on a Behrend error.
- Behrend scored once more in the top of the sixth.
- Rosser and Lenser each went 2-for-3.
- Lenser pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts.
- ONU out-hit Behrend 7-5.
Game 2 - L, 1-3 v TC
- The game remained scoreless until Thomas scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- In the top of the seventh, freshman Lillie Marker (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage) doubled to left field to score freshman Mackenzie Hannahs (Alexandria/Northridge), but the Polar Bears came up short of the win.
- Hannahs went 3-for-3 to lead ONU.
- Sophomore Taylor Keck (Wadsworth) pitched all six innings, striking out two.
- TC out-hit ONU 8-6.

- Hannahs led the Polar Bears with a 4-for-6 day.
- Lenser ranks 4th all-time in ONU history with 263 career strikeouts. She also has 89 career base hits.
- Hannahs, Rosser and Fansler lead the team in batting through 8 games this season with averages of .333, .318 and .280, respectively.
