ADA -- The Ohio Northern softball team ran its winning streak to 10 games as the Polar Bears swept Anderson (Ind.) in a double header on Thursday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 13-1 overall, while the Ravens fall to 5-5.
Junior Gia Saturday (Ashtabula/Edgewood) led Northern offensively as she went 2-for-3 from the plate and added an RBI and two runs scored, including a home run.
Junior Anna Martin added three hits for Northern.
In the first contest, Northern got on the board first in the top of the second inning to grab an early 1-0 lead.
Northern struck again in the top of the fifth inning as junior Jenna Hollar (Lima/Bath) scored on wild pitch.
Freshman Athena Triglia (Winchester, Calif./Chaparral) scored the game-sealing run in the top of the fifth as sophomore Hailee Loughman (Brookville) drove her home to seal the 3-1 victory.
Junior Kirsten Lightel (Tallmadge) earned the victory in the circle in game one to improve to a perfect 7-0 on the season.
In the second contest, Northern jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the second.
Loughman, Saturday, freshman Jordan Cloonan (Kirtland/Cornerstone Christian) and senior Megan Hupp (Delaware/Olentangy) each scored.
After Anderson pulled within 4-1 in the bottom of the second inning, Saturday would blast an RBI home run over the left field fence to push the lead to 5-1.
The Ravens would get one back, but were unable to get any closer as ONU went on to win the nightcap 5-2.
Sophomore Kaitlin Surdej (Lancaster/Central) earned the victory in the circle for ONU as she waived a game-high four batters.
Northern returns to the diamond Friday as they open Ohio Athletic Conference play and the home portion of the schedule and host Marietta at 3 pm in a double header.
