ADA -- Ohio Northern swept Heidelberg 7-4 and 16-3 in an Ohio Athletic Conference softball double header Tuesday afternoon at the ONU Softball Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-9 overall and are 4-4 in OAC play, while the Student Princes fall to 10-14, 0-8.
Junior Christin Miller went 6-for-8 with five runs scored to lead an ONU offense that posted 29 base hits, hit five home runs and scored 23 runs in the twin-bill.
In Game 1, Northern took a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI triple by sophomore Kelly Sheridan and a 2-run home run by freshman Amanda Lahti.
An RBI double by Miller followed by an RBI single by senior Ashley Sujkowski gave the Polar Bears a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
After HU got on the board in the top of the third, freshman pinch-runner Lindsay Simmons scored on a ground out by freshman Anne Dreher in the home half of the third frame to make it a 6-1 game.
The Student Princes scored three times in the top of the fifth frame to pull within 6-4.
But the Polar Bears added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth when Miller singled, stole second and eventually scored on a ground ball by Sheridan.
Senior Abbey Bensing improved to 3-3 in the circle with the complete-game victory for Ohio Northern.
In Game 2, the Polar Bears batted around in each of the first two innings to take a commanding 16-1 lead.

Junior Michelle Sweet then smacked a 3-run home run and Sujkowski had an RBI double to cap the rally.
Junior Colleen Baliga and Sheridan each hit 3-run home runs to spark the 8-run second frame.
