ADA — The Ohio Northern softball team will kickoff its 2013 schedule with its annual Spring Break trip down south March 3-10 with games in Panama City Beach, Fla., and Columbus Ga.
The Polar Bears, under third-year head coach Kim Burke, have a very challenging early season schedule, playing seven games against 2012 NCAA Tournament teams and one against the 2010 NCAA Champions by March 26.
ONU will begin play with games in Panama City Beach March 3-6 and will then head back north for three days of games March 8-10 in Columbus, Ga.
The Spring Break schedule is tentative and incomplete as of now, but known games are with NCAA Regional host Central (Iowa) and 201 NCAA Champion East Texas Baptist.
ONU is slated to open the home portion of its schedule March 21 with a double header against Alma (Mich.) at the ONU Softball Field in a rematch of last year's NCAA III Regional semifinals.
Northern will then host Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament champion John Carroll on March 23 and a rematch of the NCAA III Regional finals on March 26 at the ONU Softball Field.
Other home opponents on the schedule include Heidelberg on April 9, Wilmington on April 17 and Muskingum on April 27.
The OAC Tournament is slated for May 3-4.
