Gaye, Mangola and Miller named 2012 Academic All-OAC for Softball

ADA - Three Ohio Northern softball players were selected by the conference's faculty athletic representatives as 2012 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference.
Seniors Cassie Gaye and Jackie Mangola were named Academic All-OAC, while sophomore Christin Miller was named Academic All-OAC Honorable Mention.
Gaye, a health and physical education major, finished the season second on the team in batting average at .401, in addition to her 10 doubles, seven homers and 36 RBIs.
This season, the third baseman from Mayfield, Ohio, also earned honors as First Team All-OAC, All-OAC Tournament and NCAA All-Region.
Mangola finished the season with seven doubles, a triple, four home runs and a .297 batting average.
Also a health and physical education major from Cranberry Township, Pa., the second baseman also led the team in assists with 126 and a .964 fielding percentage.
Miller finished the season leading the Polar Bears at the plate with a .449 batting average, in addition to her 10 doubles, five triples and 19 RBIs. She also led the team with 10 stolen bases.
The center fielder from Mason, Ohio, is a biology major. This season alone she was named OAC Hitter of the Week, First Team All-OAC and First Team All-Central Region.
The ONU Softball squad finished the season 31-14 overall and 14-3 in the OAC. The season included the team's fourth consecutive OAC Regular Season title, an NCAA Regional Tournament title and an appearance in the Elite Eight of the College World Series.
