Mount Union tops No. 24 Softball in Game 2 of OAC Tournament

ADA -- Mount Union knocked off No. 24 Ohio Northern 6-1 in game two of the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament Friday afternoon at the ONU Softball Field.
The Polar Bears fall to 24-10, while the Purple Raiders improve to 21-18.
Fourth-seeded MtU advances to the winner's bracket game to face second-seeded John Carroll at 4:30 pm, while top-seeded ONU will face third-seeded Otterbein in an elimation game at approximately 6:30 pm.
Mount Union got on te board first in the top of the third with an unearned run, but ONU answered in the bottom of the frame on an RBI triple by freshman Kelly Sheridan to tie it 1-1.
The Purple Raiders scored another unearned run in the top of the fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth to go up 3-1.
The game was delayed for 41 minutes in the top of the seventh due to lightning nearby.
MtU then plated three runs in the top of the seventh to take control of the game.
Bre Willis (11-8) earned the victory for the Purple Raiders, while junior Abbey Bensing took the loss and falls to 11-5.
