ALMA, Mich. -- Freshman Kelly Sheridan went 2-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Ohio Northern softball team to a double header split at Alma (Mich.) Thursday afternoon at Scots Field.
The Polar Bears won the nightcap 4-1 after the Scots won the opener 4-0.
ONU is 8-4 on the year and Alma moves to 12-4 on the season.
In game two, ONU scored twice in the third and fourth innings to take a 4-0 lead and junior Katy Newman (2-2) threw a complete-game 4-hitter to make the lead stand up.
Sheridan had an RBI single and senior All-American Kimi Blewett followed with an RBI walk in the third frame to give ONU a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Sheridan had a two-out, two-run double to extend Northern's lead to 4-0.
Sophomore Kristin Miller also went 2-for-4 for ONU.
In the opener, Ohio Northern out-hit Alma 4-3, but the Scots scored three unearned runs to post the victory.
Alma scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first to go up 1-0, then added three insurance runs in the fifth to take a 4-0 advantage.
The Polar Bears will begin Ohio Athletic Conference action on Saturday with a 1 pm double header at John Carroll.
