CLERMONT, Fla. — The Ohio Northern softball team got a home run from Cassie Gaye and posted a pair of shutouts on Day 4 of its spring break trip to the NTC Games.
The Polar Bears (6-2) defeated Lebanon Valley (Pa.) 2-0 in the first game of the day, then blanked Marywood (Pa.) 8-0 in the nightcap.
Senior Cassie Gaye drilled a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning and sophomore Christin Miller had an RBI double in the fifth frame for ONU.
Junior Abbey Bensing threw a 6-hit shutout with five strikeouts to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Aagainst Marywood, freshman Jodi Otte threw five innings of 1-hit shutout ball to earn her first collegiate victory.
Miller went 3-for-4 with an RBI and threw one perfect inning of relief for Ohio Northern.
Senior Katie Cretin was 2-for-3 with two RBI for ONU, as well.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their spring break trip on Friday with games against Elizabethtown (Pa.) and Lebanon Valley (Pa.)
