Ohio Northern advances in OAC Softball Tournament with 5-3 victory over JCU Saturday morning

ADA — Ohio Northern got three solo home runs and defeated John Carroll 5-3 in Game 4 of the 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament Saturday morning at the ONU Softball Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 25-11, while the Blue Streaks see their season end at 27-14.
ONU will advance to its second consecutive elimination game Saturday morning at 11:15 am against Mount Union.
Junior All-American Jackie Mangola got the Polar Bears on the board in the top of the second inning with her 18th home run of the season, this one a blast to right center field.
The dinger was also the 38th of her career, which ties her for the ONU career record with her sister, two time-All-American Tina Mangola, who hit 38 from 2007-10.
Sophomore Meghan Anten made it a 2-0 game in te top of the third with her third home run of the season.
JCU scored three times in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead, but the Polar Bears answered.
Sophomore Ashley Sujkowski doubled home man pinch-runner Colleen Baliga to tie the game at 3-all.
Sophomore Michelle Sweet then singled home Sujkowski to put the Polar Bears ahead 4-3.
Sujkowski made it a 503 game with a solo home run in the top of the fifth, her fourth of the season.
Abbey Bensing improved to 6-0 on the year with the complete-game two-hitter on the mound.
