Men's Cross Country opens 2022 season with win at Polar Bear Invitational

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team opened its 2022 season with a victory at the Polar Bear Invitational on a beautiful Saturday afternoon on the ONU campus.
Junior Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) and sophomore Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) led Ohio Northern (3-0 overall) on the 6,000-meter course, finishing third in 19:29 and fifth in 19:34, respectively, out of 89 runners.
Senior Breydan Hann (Wooster) was sixth in 19:35, junior Ian Ackenhausen (Xenia/Legacy Christian Academy) was seventh in 19:37 and sophomore Corey Rinehart (Galena/Olentangy Berlin) was 10th in 19:51.
Ohio Northern won the team title with 31 points, Trine (Ind.) was second with 37 points, Heidelberg was third with 88 points, a team of ONU alumni was fourth with 110 points and Bluffton was fifth with 125 points.
Noah Acker of Trine was the first collegian to cross the finish line in 19:18.
Northern returns to competition Sept. 10 at the Wittenberg Invitational.
