Men's Cross Country finishes 5th at OAC Championships

WILMINGTON — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team finished fifth out of the ten Ohio Athletic Conference teams at the OAC Championships at the Wilmington campus on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears scored 125 points and improve to 65-33 on this season.
Ohio Northern's seven runners finished within 15 seconds from the first runner to the seventh runner on the team.
Senior Dylan McKean (Warren/Champion) and junior Breydan Hann (Wooster) led the pack of Polar Bears finishing in 28th and 29th place of 169 runners on the 8,000 meter course with times of 26:34.0 and 26:40.8, respectively.
Ohio Northern's five other scoring runners finished in each consecutive place from 31st to 35th place.
Freshman Isaac Leighninger (Beavercreek) was 31st in 26:45.8, senior Patrick Baker (Massillon/Jackson) crossed the line next in 26:47.7, senior Travis Sutter (Sharpsburg/Fort Recovery) was 33rd in 26:48.9, then junior Billy Driemeyer (House Springs, Mo./Lindbergh) crossed in 26:50.8 and sophomore Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) rounded up the ONU scorers in 35th in 26:51.2.
No. 6-ranked John Carroll won the team title scoring only 25 points and having five of the top nine runners, No. 12 Otterbein was second with 52 points, and Mount Union finished third with 86 points.
Sophomore Alex Philip of John Carroll won the individual title in 24:07.8 taking home all-OAC honors.
The top-10 runners earned First Team All-OAC honors with runners 11-20 earning Second Team All-OAC honors.
Ohio Northern will compete next on November 13th in the Great Lakes Regional at Shelbyville, Ind.
