ONU Race Notes: The Ohio Northern men's cross country team — ranked fifth in the Great Lakes Region — will race in its second meet of the season Friday … The Polar Bears travel to Cedarville to race in the All-Ohio Championships … The men's 8K is scheduled to run at 2 p.m. while the women's 6K will start at 2:45 p.m ... The field includes 15 Division III teams from across Ohio ... Each school can run nine competitors in the championship races … There will also be open races for remaining competitors … The men's 8K open race is at 3:30 p.m., and the women's open 6K starts at 4:15 p.m. … The meet is scored four different ways: overall, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II/NAIA and NCAA Division III … The course is all grass, with slightly rolling hills and is located on the north side of the Cedarville University campus ... Northern finished second of five teams Saturday, Sept. 4, in the ONU Invitational ... In the Polar Bears' first meet of the season, senior Patrick Baker and junior Billy Driemeyer led Ohio Northern on the 6,000-meter course, finishing fourth in 18:58 and fifth in 18:59 out of 95 runners, respectively ... Freshman Trey Masterson was 11th in 19:13 ... Sophomore Kyle Roth finished 13th in 19:16 and junior Breydan Hann finished 17th in 19:22 ... The Polar Bears took sixth in a field of 18 in the All-Ohio Championships in 2019.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 13th season as head coach of the men's cross country team … In 12 seasons at ONU, he has guided the men's cross country teams to a 1,174-295 record, a .799 win percentage, and four Ohio Athletic Conference crowns, while the women's cross country teams have compiled a 974-418 record, a .700 win percentage, and three OAC titles … Maus currently stands as the all-time winningest coach in Ohio Northern school history for both men's and women's cross-country.
