No 19 Men's Cross Country posts fifth place finish at Tiffelberg Open

TIFFIN — The No. 19-ranked Ohio Northern men's cross country team posted a fifth place finish on Saturday afternoon at the Tiffelberg Open at the Clinton Heights Golf Course.

Northern finished fifth of nine teams and moved its record to 30-6 on the season.

Junior Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) led Northern across the finish line in 25:26, finishing third of 126 runners in the 8,000-meter race.

Senior Bobby Borger (Perrysburg) also posted a top-10 finish for Northern, finishing ninth in 26:07.

Senior Sam Boyd (Killbuck/West Holmes) rounded out the trio of ONU athletes in the top-15 as he finished 12th in 26:26.

"We were not competitive today," said head coach Jason Maus. "I was a bit disappointed at where we finished. We just didn't race with a lot of heart and didn't seem like we were into the race at all today."

Northern will return to action Friday, Sept. 29, as it travels to Cedarville to compete in the All-Ohio Championships at 2 pm.
