Digby, Myers win titles as Men’s Outdoor Track and Field finishes 4th at OAC Championships

BEREA — Sophomores Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) and Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) won Ohio Athletic Conference titles in their respective events to lead the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team to a fourth-place finish on Friday in the OAC Championships meet at Baldwin Wallace's Finnie Stadium.
The Polar Bears (16-3 overall) finished the meet with 100 points, placing fourth of 10 teams.
Mount Union won the team championship with 223 points. John Carroll was second with 221 points, and Wilmington was third with 111 points.
Digby, who threw a school-record distance of 16.34 meters in the shot put earlier this season, won the OAC championship in the event with a mark of 14.64 meters. He finished sixth in the shot put at the Outdoor OACs in 2021 and won the indoor championship in the event at the 2022 Indoor OACs.
Myers won the championship in the 800 meters, posting a time of 1:53.77 after placing sixth in the event a year ago.
Northern had three other All-OAC finishes on the day courtesy of junior Hunter Kesler (Oakwood/Paulding) and the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
Kesler finished third in the 200 meters with a time of :22.18.
The team of juniors Brandon Berry (Wickliffe) and Vini Souza (Spencerville), senior Nate Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) and freshman Ozzie Miller (Dalton) placed third in the 4x100 relay with a time of :42.39.
Myers, Souza, sophomore David Gross (Prospect/Pleasant Local) and freshman Landon Remmert (Marengo/Highland) finished third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:25.44.
The top three finishers in each event earn All-OAC status, and the top eight score team points.
The Polar Bears had six other placers on Friday.
Miller, Berry and Dean finished fifth, sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 100 meters with times of :11.20, :11.28 and :11.37.
Remmert was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of :57.09.
Junior Nick Tangeman (Maria Stein/Marion Local) placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.54 meters, and sophomore Tommy Vetrovsky (Macedonia/Nordonia) was eighth in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.55 meters.
The Polar Bears return to action next Thursday and Friday as they compete in the North Central (Ill.) Keeler Invitational and the Baldwin Wallace Twilight meets.
