Men's Swimming and Diving moves into second place after Day 2 of 2025 OAC Championships

AKRON — The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team had All-Conference performances in three of the five events to move up to second place on the second day of the 2025 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships meet on Thursday.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (5-3 overall).
- Venue: Ocasek Natatorium - Akron, Ohio.
- Ohio Northern is in second place out of 6 teams with 204 points after 6 the 20 events over a four-day span.
- John Carroll leads the team standings with 308 points, Mount Union is third with 165 points, Wilmington is fourth with 151 points, Baldwin Wallace is fifth with 129 points and Heidelberg is sixth with 26 points.
Meet Highlights
- Junior Selby Wilt (Findlay) earned All-Conference honors in the 50 free, placing second in :20.57.
- The 200 free relay team of Wilt, junior Nathan Clark (Cleves/Elder), junior Tyler Edmonds (Youngsville, La./Southside) and senior Brady Horgan (New Richmond/McNicholas) was second in 1:23.03, earning All-Conference honors.
- The 400 medley relay team of junior Simon Bopple (Cleveland/Shaker Heights), Clark, McCluskey and Wilt was second in 3:23.04, earning All-OAC accolades.
- Freshman Chase McCluskey (Pickerington/North) was fifth in the 500-yard free in 4:43.24.
- Clark was fifth in the 50 free in :21.03 and Horgan was seventh in the 50 free in :21.19.
- Junior Riley Verb (Bluffton) was eighth in the 200 I.M. in 1:56.97.
Notables
- The meet consists of 20 events, including 13 individual races, five relays and two diving events.
- The top three individuals and top two relays in each event earn All-Conference honors.
- Ohio Northern has won 12 OAC Championships titles since 2005.
- Wilt earned his second All-Conference honor in the 50 free and is marks the fourth time in the past five season that an ONU athlete has been All-OAC in the event.
- The 200 free relay team earned All-Conference accoldes, marking the fourth consecutive year that ONU has accomplished the feat in this event.
- Northern has now had a 400 medley relay team earn ALl-OAC honors three times in the past five seasons.
- Austin Veltman is 36-20 in his seventh season as head coach of the Polar Bears.
