Goodchild, Turich earn All-Conference honors, lead Men's Golf to fourth place finish at 2018 OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE — Senior Zach Goodchild (Pickerington/North) and junior Joshua Turich (Centerville) earned All-Conference honors to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the 2018 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships on Friday-Sunday at River Greens Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (25-50-1 overall) finished fourth of nine teams in the 72-hole tournament with a 305-318-299-315—1237.
Goodchild finished fourth out of 45 golfers with a 10-over par 74-76-73-79—302 and Turich tied for ninth with a 14-over par 75-79-74-78—306.
The top 14 finishers and earned All-Conference accolades.
Junior Nick Anderson (Mason) tied for 23rd with a 79-80-78-80—317, sophomore Ryan Tatman (West Chester/Lakota East) was 32nd with a 77-83-74-88—322, and freshman Ethan Smith (Chillicothe/Southeastern) was 39th with an 84-85-83-78—330.
The 27-hole course had several holes under water due to heavy rains this spring, so the players played a modified 18-hole layout that was 6866 yards to a par of 73.
Otterbein won the team title with a 1199, John Carroll was second with a 1227, Heidelberg was third with a 1229 and Capital was fifth with a 1237.
Otterbein's Kurt Fortman won Medalist honors by three shots with a 2-over par 294.
