Five Polar Bears named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in Football for 2011
ADA — Five Ohio Northern student/athletes were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in football for 2011 in voting conducted by the league's 10 faculty advisors.
Senior Andy Park and juniors Cullen Zelachowski and Tyler Joseph were named Academic All-OAC and seniors Pat Arcaro and Jared Oehler were named Honorable Mention Academic All-Conference.
All five are making their first appearance on the Academic All-OAC squad.
Park, a pre-med major from Bryan, played in seven games this season after suffering an early season injury.
He caught 13 passes for 153 yards as a wide receiver in 2011.
Zelachowski, a civil engineering major from West Chester, started all 10 games at left guard for Ohio Northern this fall.
He has played in 21 games on the offensive line in his career.
Joseph is a two-year starter at right guard and has started the last 22 games for ONU.
He is a mechanical engineering major from Findlay.
Joseph was also named Second Team All-Conference this fall.
Arcaro played in 25 games at receiver for the Polar Bears during his career, catching nine passes for 138 yards.
This season, he caught five passes for 76 yards, including a long of 38 yards, in eight games.
Arcaro is a pharmacy major from Eastlake.
Oehler is a two-year starter at tight end and is majoring in accounting.
A Trenton native, Oehler caught nine passes for 120 yards and a TD this year and finished his career with 22 receptions for 301 yards and five touchdowns in 32 games.
The Polar Bears finished the season with a 6-4 record and posted their 16th consecutive upper division finish in the OAC with a 5-4 mark under eighth-year head coach Dean Paul.
