Baseball defeats Oberlin 9-4 in non-conference tilt for eighth consecutive victory

OBERLIN — The Ohio Northern baseball team defeated Oberlin 9-4 in a non-conference tilt to extend its winning streak to eight games on Sunday afternoon.

- Northern is in a third place tie with Marietta in the OAC regular season standings with 10-6 records.
- ONU will clinch a spot in the 4-team OAC Tournament with one win in its regular season-ending double header at home with Heidelberg on Saturday.
- Juniors Sam Sells (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) and Andrew Stechschulte (Findlay) and freshman Kyler Lapp (Hall, Ill.) lead the team in hitting through 36 games with averages of .347, .329 and .319, respectively.
- Stechschulte leads the team with 46 hits.
- Armstrong leads the squad with 15 doubles, seven home runs, 44 RBI and a .613 slugging percentage. His 44 RBI is the fifth-most at ONU in single-season.
- Ohio Northern is now 42-5 all-time against Oberlin, including a 19-5 mark in Oberlin.
