ADA — The Ohio Northern baseball team split an Ohio Athletic Conference double header with Muskingum on a sunny Sunday afternoon
ONU won the opener 7-0 and lost the nightcap 8-2.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (9-13 overall, 1-5 OAC), Muskingum (14-9 overall, 5-1 OAC).
- Venue: Wander Field - Ada, Ohio.
Game 1 - W, 7-0
- Fifth-year senior Jack Hutchins (Bright, Ind./East Central) threw a complete-game 3-hit shutout while striking out 7 for ONU.
- Hutchins' pitching gem improves his record to 2-3 on the season.
- The Polar Bears scored seven times in the bottom of the second inning, all after two were out, to account for all of the scoring in the game.

- Junior Andrew Stechschulte (Findlay) had a 3-run double four batters later and it was 6-0.
- Junior Sam Sells (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) then singled home Stechschulte to cap the rally.
- Sells was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in the opener.
- ONU out-hit MU 12-3 in the game.

- Muskingum built a 5-0 lead with three runs in the top of the first and two more in the fourth.
- Junior Joey Kennedy (Sterling Heights, Mich./Foley Catholic) got ONU on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI ground out that scored sophomore Robbie Reed (Goshen, Ky./Trinity).
- Kennedy then tripled home Reed in the bottom of the sixth to get ONU within 7-2.
- Kennedy finished the game 3-for-5 with 2 RBI and Reed was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored.
- MU out-hit ONU 13-10.
