Baseball defeats Milwaukee School of Engineering 9-5 on Day 6 of spring break trip

DAVENPORT, Fla. — The Ohio Northern baseball team defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.) 9-5 on day six of its annual spring break trip on Friday afternoon.

- Junior Joey Kennedy (Sterling Heights, Mich./Foley Catholic), junior Chase Armstrong (Sterling Heights, Mich./Foley Catholic), senior Logan Stevens (Plain City/Alder) and freshman Evan Russ (Westfield, Ind.) each had two hits to lead Northern's 11-hit attack.
- The Polar Bears took a 4-0 lead in thre top of the first, only to see the Raiders answer with a solo home run in the home half of the inning.
- Each team scored once in the fourth and twice more in the fifth to make it 7-4.
- MSOE got within 7-5 with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
- Armstrong gave ONU a 9-5 advantage with a two-out, two-run double in the top of the ninth.
- Senior Noah Truax (Lewis Center/Bishop Watterson) went 5.0 innings, allowing six hits and four earned runs, to get the win and improve to 1-0 on the season.
- Junior Blake Altaffer (Montpelier) came on in the ninth with two on and two out and got the final out to pick up his first save of the season.
