Baseball scores 9-1 win at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE — The Ohio Northern baseball team won its third straight game on Wednesday, scoring a 9-1 victory over Ohio Wesleyan at Littick Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 8-9 overall on the season while the Battling Bishops fall to 5-11.
Junior Nick Rothmann (Westerville/Columbus Academy) paced the ONU offense with three hits, including a double, and three RBIs.
Senior Corey McMann (Flower Mound, Tex./Liberty Christian) added a double as part of a two-hit game, and sophomore Dakota Durick (New Castle, Ind.) also tallied two hits for Northern.
Senior Chayten Overholt (Delphos/Lincolnview) added a single and two RBIs.
Sophomore Kaidan Domer (Orrville) earned his first career win on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings in relief of freshman starter Logan Hunn (Westerville/South).
Domer allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out three.
Freshman Joe Tootle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and sophomores Austin Hunter (Canal Fulton/Northwest) and Hayden Heche (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) combined to throw the remaining innings.
The Polar Bears out-hit the Bishops 12-4 in the game and got the scoring started with a two-run first inning.
A ground out from sophomore Logan Stevens (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) plated Rothmann for a second-inning run, and Rothmann scored another run in the sixth on a single from Durick.
Northern added five more runs in the top of the seventh, which was highlighted by a 3-RBI double from Rothmann.
The Bishops capped the scoring on an RBI single from Ryan Stefancin in the bottom of the seventh.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday when they host a doubleheader with Ohio Athletic Conference foe Mount Union beginning at 1 p.m.
