WINTERHAVEN, Fla. -- The No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern baseball team suffered a 7-1 defeat Thursday afternoon to St. John Fisher (N.Y.) at Chain of Lakes baseball complex in Winterhaven, Fla.
The Polar Bears fall to 2-3 on the year while the Cardinals improve to 3-4.
Northern was led in the contest by sophomore Ben Wake as he went 2-for-3 on the afternoon.
ONU found itself in an early 4-0 deficit as SJF got out to a quick start.
The Polar Bears were able to fight back as sophomore Brandon Kasberg hit an RBI single to left field and plated sophomore Jordan Bostater in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull within 4-1.
The Cardinals were able to tack on three more runs as they went on to win 7-1.
The Ohio Northern offense recorded seven hits during the contest.
Ohio Northern will return to action Friday at 11:45 am as they take on St. Vincent (Pa.) at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.
